Making it Happen…NOW

If you had a year left to live, what would you do?

Seriously, I want you to think about this.  I don’t want you to read any further until you’ve come up with some clear, definite answers.  Use a sheet of paper if you need to.

All done?  Okay then, let’s continue.

If you’re like most people you thought of something like travel the world or spend more time with loved ones.  I know that’s the response I get the most when I ask my friends and family that question.  Of equal concern to many people is also being able to make sure that their loved ones are taken care of.

Now comes the follow-up question: Why aren’t you doing those things now?

When I ask the first question, I’m met with a variety of responses; however, when I ask the second, I’m met with two basic answers.  Either the person claims to not have enough time or they don’t have enough money.

That response amazes me.  It’s like they are saying that if their time was limited they would find a way to do what they wanted to do, but now they can’t be so bothered because they have all the time in the world.

I remember asking a family member who wanted to travel the world how they would afford it then but can’t afford it now.  Her response was enlightening.  “If it came down to it I would find a way,” she said.  “I don’t care if I had to get the money from friends, start a go fund me account, or find a way to get sponsored, I would get it done.”

That drove home the point I have been screaming from the rooftops for months now.

Whether or not you reach your dream is entirely up to you.  More specifically, it depends entirely on how much you want it and what you are willing to do to get it.

When you want it bad enough, when you feel like your life or sanity depends on it, you most certainly will get that thing done.

Think about it like this: If someone was holding your head underwater, what would you do to get air?

The answer is obvious: You would do any and everything in your power.

When you want your dream as much as you want air, you will make it happen.  You will do whatever it takes, become an unstoppable force of nature, and be unrelenting until you get it.

And what are your dreams?  Maybe, just maybe, they are some if not all of the things you wrote in response to my very first question.

We’ll talk again…
